8th Skipton Beer Festival
Each Spring members of Keighley and Craven Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) organise a festival of real ale in Skipton. Over one long weekend, usually in April or May, the event offers the biggest and best selection of cask beers, ciders and perries to be found anywhere in the whole of Craven.

Richs Leg bender Ciders are traditionally produced with a blend of cider apples grown in Somerset. It is a full flavoured crisp, clear still cider, making it easy to drink, but beware it can make you go weak at the knees!

Days Cottage
Days traditional ciders and perry are fermented and matured in oak barrels with fruit from traditional, mature orchards in Gloucestershire. The fruit comes only from unsprayed orchards and dozens of varieties are used, some unique to the county, such as Taynton Codlin, Flower of the West and Underleaves. These give flavours unobtainable from modern commercial fruit, and can be enjoyed as unusual single varieties or as carefully blended juices. No additives or preservatives are used. No sprays, chemicals or artificial fertilisers are used in the orchards, thus preserving their rich and varied wildlife.

This oak aged, Welsh perry is quite clear, has a caramel nose and a dry finish. It is a very lively, popular perry and easy to drink.

Hendre Huffcap Perry

Established in 1896 Hecks are very much a family firm making over 20 differing ciders and perrys. They are experts in the production of single varieties, with some bold and distinguished flavours. Hendre Huffcap was the 2002 Perry of the Year and you can see why with its strong pear flavour and full bodied texture.

Olivers
Tom Oliver, also the tour manager for the band the Proclaimers, produces in Herefordshire excellent easy drinking ciders and perries which are well balanced. Full on with a rich mouth feel and intensity, a still, medium-dry blended perry.
