This year we have over 50 plus Real Ales a ‘Beer from the Wood’ (a strong ale only served in third or half pints) and 2 Belgium Keg beers. There is also local English wine, low / zero alcohol beer and cider plus soft drinks available.
This will be the 29th Clacton Beer & Cider Festival it is located just off the seafront in the St. James' Church Hall. It is between St. James' Church and the Westcliff Theatre behind Clacton Hospital which is well signposted. It is about 15 minutes’ walk from Clacton-on-Sea railway station. An added attraction on Thursday & Friday is the Clacton Airshow which is the largest aviation event on the Essex coast, with flying displays over the seafront. The typical line-up includes a mix of modern jets (the Red Arrows are due to take part), precision aerobatic teams and historic aircraft (the iconic RAF Battle of Britain Flight).
Our logo this year is Clown Bertram, whose real name was Albert Edward Harvey, was the most popular and best-loved performer ever to appear in Clacton. He spent 18 seasons from 1922 to 1939 entertaining both adults and children in packed houses with many more disappointed would-be audience members locked outside. Bertram also held amateur talent competitions. Warren Mitchell (Alf Garnett) won a prize as a five year old dancer.
Food will be provided by the ‘Cheese and Pie Man’ with a large section of pies, pasties and sausage rolls as well as cheese boards with crackers and pickle.
The glasses this year are being sponsored by the Warwick Arms, Clacton-on-Sea.
Saturday evening live music by The Onion Band (from 7pm).
This year we will be fundraising for Wildlives Animal Rescue & Rehabilitation Centre, Thorrington, Tendring.
