Citra & Riwaka Red (cask festival special)
An American red brewed with the classic Citra hop and then dry hopped with Riwaka, the ghost hop. Why a ghost hop? Because they stopped growing it just before they realised what an incredible hop it was, we managed to get our hands on one of the last ever bags Brewed with York CAMRA as a festival special, it is served on cask and KeyKeg to highlight how the two forms of dispense enhance different flavour aspects.

Smoked Maple Belgian Ale (KeyKeg)
Malts smoked at the brewery over applewood and cedar wood give a delicious subtle smokiness, which when combined with maple syrup gives a rich mouthfeel. Belgian yeast then throws it's own twist on proceedings, making for a complex and drinkable beer.

Cumulonimbus (cask festival special)
A dark cloudy beer and a festival special. York CAMRA asked for an IPA, done as a wheat beer, and made dark. Silliness. Think soft hazy Belgian witbier sweetness (plus spicy and estery yeast notes) with dark roasted burntness and extra orange/citrus hops. If you can't imagine it, just drink it.

Yokshire Hops Wet Hopped Brown
A last minute addition to the line up. First Gold green hops became available from Yorkshire Hops the week before the festival, so it would have been a crime not to bring them to York Beer festival. Fact of the day: You need to use five times as many green hops in a beer as dried.

York CAMRA beer and cider festival runs from 17-20th September on York’s Knavesmire near the race course. Full details of the festival, including opening times and ticket prices are available on the website yorkbeerfestival.org.uk.
